Yoics is a powerful network solution that transforms any computer or network attached device instantly into an easily accessible and shareable internet resource. Featuring an intuitive user interface, remote access and sharing has just gotten as easy as using instant messaging. If you’ve had issues with Yoics conflicting with your anti-virus software, upgrade to this version.

Overview

The Yoics desktop looks and works a lot like an instant messenger application, except instead of a device list, you get a list of devices . These devices can be yours or ones that have been shared to you. With the Yoics desktop you can make any data, service or even device on your network accessible to you from anywhere on the Internet.

During initial setup, you’ll have the option to setup remote desktop, folder sharing, photo sharing and web-cam sharing. Yoics also provides custom configuration, so that advanced users can configure just about any data, service or device to be accessible and shareable remotely.

If you are ready to go, download Yoics from the above link and off you go. If you have any problems, here are a couple of links to help you along the way.

Yoics Web folders

Once you configure a folder with Yoics, it becomes instantly Internet accessible and shareable either via a web browser or a webDav folder.

Yoics Photos

File view is just one of the options that you have with Yoics Folders. If you have a folder with digital pictures, just configure it with Yoics Photos, and you instantly have a personal photo site, viewable and shareable across the internet.

Remote desktop

Sometimes accessing files or folders just isn’t enough, especially if you’re providing computer support for a less than savvy computer user that you know. Yoics now features pre-configured UltranVNC server, so remotely managing computers with your keyboard and mouse is as easy as a double-mouse click. Our software also support multiple versions of VNC,  and we’ve pre-configured the free version to work with Yoics, so you can access remote machines without requiring complex virtual private network (VPN) or router configuration. If you’ve got your own preferred remote desktop program, no worries, Yoics is easily configured to work with the application of your choice. RealVNC personal edition, TightVNC , UltraVNC, and even Microsoft Remote Desktop are already drop-down menu choices.

Yoics surveillance

Have a webcam? With Yoics, you can instantly transform it into your own personal surveillance system. Not only can you view it live from any browser, motion detected footage is stored on your hard disk, which you can browse at your leisure.  You can also have a daily summary created or even a daily time-lapse and if you have a YouTube account, all your video clips can be uploaded – automatically.  You can even have a Tweet automatically sent out everytime video is captured.

Yoics NOW proxy

Files and remote desktop are undoubtedly the two most popular things that people want access to. But lets face it, there are thousands of other network devices and services that would be awesome to have remote access into, and with Yoics NOW it’s immediately possible. Want to print to your network printer from vacation? No problem. Want to get to your router’s configuration screen without having to open a hole in your firewall? Easy. Whether it’s a dedicated network device or a TCP/IP service running on your machine, Yoics NOW allows you to transform it into a remote accessible and shareable internet resource.

Here you see TVersity, a media server, configured to work with Yoics.

iPhone access

At Yoics we’re big fans of the iPhone, so as you might imagine, most of our stuff works great when viewed from its browser.

System requirements

  • Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP SP2/SP3, Vista SP1
  • Windows .NET Framework 2.0 (installed with Yoics if not already installed).
  • 1GHz CPU
  • 1GB memory
  • 100MB HD space
  • DSL or Cable High Speed networking at 384Kbps or higher
  • Additional resources are required for systems sharing more than 5 active Yoics services.
  • Systems sharing greater than 10 services will require premium computer systems and high speed network connections.

  1. Is Linux support planned for this product. Is it known to be compatible with Wine?

  2. We have a daemon that’s available for Linux, that let’s you configure any service to run as a Yoics tunnel. There’s some information on how to configure Zoneminder, VNC and SVN to work with Yoics on the support forum. http://support.yoics.com/viewforum.php?f=18&sid=0be1ebf333a36a507f8bf11e88a041fc

  10. is there a mac version of this client? if so where is the link to dl it?

  11. Does Yoics provide direct point-to-point connections or does it route connections through your servers?

  12. If you use the Yoics desktop application, the connection is direct point-to-point. If you are accessing your content via yoics.com then our servers serve as the other end of the point-to-point connection.

  13. here you go: http://www.yoics.com/?p=47

  14. i am planning to install this and wanted to clarify these…

Do we need to open a port or something to run this software?
Also what kind of a security mechanism is provided if viewing from a remote location?

    -P

  15. No port forwarding required. Security is provided three ways:

    - When accessing remotely via Yoics.com, via SSL
    - All traffic is encrypted.
    - Random ports are open per session, so concerns regarding port scanning

  16. Just wanted to say thank you to you guys @Yoics! Glad I found you, I searched all over for a simple way to view my stream. I upgraded and un jailbroke my phone a few months back, big mistake! But thanks to you guys I can do the very simple thing of keeping an eye on my house when I am not there. I will do some looking around on the fourmz but maybe if you can tell us iphoners on here it will help the next guy. Do I have to leave my web cam up at all times or is there a way to turn it on and off using me iphone?

Thanks again for all your hard work and I look forward for whats to come.

    YOICS ROCKS!!!

  17. WELL DONE, Admin please include the realtime recording to HDD also, it will be a great substitute for DVR surveillance system, because you told in pro version the multiple webcam support also coming..

  18. james, glad that Yoics is working out for you. Web-cams need to be left on. If you’d like to not have to keep your PC on, you can get a Yoics enabled IP cam.

  19. I have a webcam running on laptop A and can see video on laptop A. Installed YOICS on laptop A and configured for webcam. YOICS screen shows “online” and My Web Cam location as “host”. I have a 192.xxx IP address for the laptop A and a 68.XXX public IP address and a port selected for my router. I can’t find an instruction to determine what URL to use to connect to the live feed. How do I access the live feed using another laptop? I’ve tried both IP addresses including the port and neither is found. Hlep please…

  20. can i setup my ip camera using yoics

  21. Depending on the camera, there are two ways to use yoics with your IP camera. If it is a camera that supports Yoics directly, you can download the latest version of firmware and use that to connect via Yoics.

If the camera does not support Yoics directly, you can use the Yoics NOW proxy to access your camera (the computer running Yoics will need to stay on).

  22. You can simply login to http://yoics.com and click on your web-cam. No IP addresses necessary.

  23. I have a Droid can I view my IP camera with this

  24. Yes, in general, the Google Androids will work very similar to the iPhone. There are some limitations, depending what you are trying to view over Yoics. The Yoics enabled IP cameras are viewable but may require slight tweaks or firmware upgrades. If you run into problems, send us a detailed message to support at yoics dot com. If you have a specific IP camera you are asking about, let us know which one.

  25. I am having trouble downloading the software (both versions) to my Windows 7. I have tried Vista and XP compatability installs and I recieve errors each time. The most common error states: “The specified path ‘%APPDATA%’ is unavailable
    Any help would be appreciated.

  26. Joe

Sounds like Apache isn’t starting. Can you go to File>Connection details and send the information to support [at] yoics [dot] com.
